Self-hosted alternatives to Amazon SES

Amazon SES is an AWS service for sending and receiving email at volume through the AWS SDKs, an API or SMTP. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Amazon SES describes on its own site.

No SMTP interface, event publishing or IP options, and no attachments, CC or BCC.
What it adds
API keys can be limited to chosen domains and come as test or live keys, and the same project adds a shared team inbox.
  • Yes Send through the AWS SDKs or API. REST API with API keys, no AWS SDK.
  • No SMTP interface. No SMTP service in the source or docs.
  • Yes Domain authentication with DKIM. Domains added through the Cloudflare API with a DKIM selector, return-path domain and verified flag.
  • Partly Bounce, complaint and delivery notifications. Statuses and suppressions in the logs and admin panel, no push notifications.
  • No Sending event publishing. No outbound event stream or webhooks.
  • Partly Receiving email. The inbox Worker receives mail through Email Routing and threads it, but there are no inbound parse routes or webhooks to your app.
  • Yes Email templates. 50 built-in React Email layouts and custom Handlebars templates referenced by templateSlug.
  • No Dedicated, shared or owned IP addresses. Sends through Cloudflare Email Sending, no IP choice.
