Self-hosted alternatives to Arduino Cloud

Arduino Cloud is a hosted IoT platform for Arduino and ESP boards, with a web editor, dashboards, triggers and over-the-air updates. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Arduino Cloud describes on its own site.

Self-hosted IoT platform for device telemetry, realtime dashboards and automations in your own Cloudflare account

What a Arduino Cloud user would miss
The web code editor, built-in over-the-air updates and a native mobile app.
What it adds
MIT licensed single-tenant deployment where devices, dashboards and telemetry live in the owner's Cloudflare account, with an MCP server that is off by default; the app also sends anonymous usage stats to telemetry.nodrix.live.
  • Yes Cloud variables synced with boards. Metrics sent by a device become variables the first time they arrive, and control values flow back to the device.
  • Yes Custom dashboards with widgets. Drag-and-drop dashboard widgets bound to variables.
  • Yes Remote control from dashboards. Toggles, sliders, color pickers and buttons write values back to hardware.
  • Yes Triggers and notifications. Automations with variable, schedule, sunrise or sunset and event triggers, and actions such as email, Slack, Telegram, Twilio and webhooks.
  • No Web editor for sketches. No web code editor; the project provides an Arduino library for ESP32 and ESP8266 and guides.
  • No Over-the-air firmware updates. No firmware hosting or update push; a website guide shows an ESP32 pulling firmware from a URL set through a control variable.
  • Partly IoT Remote mobile app. Responsive web admin that can be installed as a PWA; no native mobile app.
  • Partly Historical data and REST API. A read API returns latest state and time series and history is kept in R2; no CSV download found.
