Self-hosted alternatives to Buffer

Buffer is a hosted social media scheduler for many networks, with a posting queue, analytics, a comment inbox and team workflows. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Buffer describes on its own site.

Self-hosted scheduler that writes, schedules and publishes posts and threads to Mastodon, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads and X

Who it suits
Solo creators and developers who use Buffer only for X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon and want to stop paying per channel.
What a Buffer user would miss
No Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube or Pinterest, no engagement analytics, no reply inbox, no teams or approvals, no slot-based queue and no mobile apps.
  • Partly Scheduling to many networks. Only Mastodon, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Threads and X.
  • Yes Per-channel post customization. A tab per network overrides the shared post.
  • Partly Posting queue with recurring time slots. Each post gets its own time or offset; there is no preset slot queue.
  • Partly Engagement and audience analytics. Only published and failed counts with failure reasons; no likes or reach.
  • No Community inbox for replying to comments. Does not read or answer comments.
  • Partly AI assistant for writing posts. No built-in AI; the MCP server lets your own agent draft and schedule.
  • No Team members and approval workflows. One admin account per instance.
