Self-hosted alternatives to Ecwid

Ecwid by Lightspeed is an ecommerce platform for selling on a website, on social media and in marketplaces. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Ecwid describes on its own site.

Small server-rendered store with an admin, Stripe and Lightning checkout, and APIs that let AI agents shop

Who it suits
Solo merchants and makers who use Ecwid for a small catalog of physical or digital products with card payments, and who do not sell on social channels or marketplaces.
What a Ecwid user would miss
An embeddable store for other websites, social and marketplace selling, more payment providers, live carrier rates, email campaigns and ad tools, and the storefront theme is changed in code.
What it adds
It takes Bitcoin over Lightning next to Stripe cards, renders pages on the server so cart and search work with JavaScript turned off, and exposes a JSON API and an optional MCP server so AI agents can browse and buy.
  • No Embeddable store for any website, plus social and marketplace channels. A standalone storefront on its own Worker address; there is a JSON catalog and checkout API but no embed widget and no social or marketplace channels.
  • Yes Inventory management. Stock per product or variant, checkout reservations, a low-stock list and variants with their own price, stock and SKU.
  • Yes Order management. Admin orders with fulfillment, customers, optional customer accounts with order history and an orders CSV export.
  • Partly Payment processing through providers. Stripe Checkout cards and Bitcoin over Lightning through phoenixd, LNbits or OpenNode; no PayPal or other gateways.
  • Partly Shipping rates, labels and fulfillment. Shipping zones with flat or weight-banded rates and free-over-threshold rules; optional Shippo labels for domestic orders only; no live carrier rates at checkout.
  • Partly Automated tax calculation. Sales tax or VAT through Stripe Tax, which is off by default and must be activated in Stripe.
  • Partly Discounts and email marketing. Promo codes created in the Stripe Dashboard and order confirmation emails; no email campaigns or ad tools found.
  • Partly Built-in sales reports. Dashboard with net revenue, a 14-day revenue chart, recent orders and low stock; no per-product or per-customer reports found.
