Self-hosted alternatives to Fastmail

Fastmail is a subscription email, calendar and contacts service with its own web and mobile apps, custom-domain support and access over open protocols. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Fastmail describes on its own site.

  • Mailflare inbox under a custom brand name, with an open message and the compose window

Self-hosted webmail for your own domains, with routing rules, a calendar and an AI assistant whose drafts need approval

What a Fastmail user would miss
It has no IMAP or POP access, no CalDAV or CardDAV sync, no native mobile apps and no masked email addresses, and extra user accounts need a paid Team license.
What it adds
Mail and attachments stay in your own Cloudflare D1 database and R2 bucket, and the calendar adds a public booking page.
  • Yes Email on your own domain, with aliases. Multiple domains, mailboxes and aliases.
  • Yes Search across all mail. FTS5 search over sender, recipient, subject and body.
  • Yes Folders, rules and spam filtering. Folders, stars, routing rules that sort or forward mail, and a local spam filter with training.
  • Yes Snooze and scheduled send. Snoozed_until on messages and a schedule-send menu in the composer.
  • Partly Calendar. Personal calendar with repeating events, time zones and emailed .ics invitations, plus booking pages, but no CalDAV.
  • Partly Contacts. Per-user contacts and sender blocking, but no CardDAV sync.
  • Yes Import from other providers. Import from an IMAP server or from .eml and .mbox files, export to mbox.
