Self-hosted alternatives to Slack AI

Slack AI is the set of AI features inside Slack for summaries, search answers and a built-in assistant. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Slack AI describes on its own site.

Slack assistant that remembers team conversations, answers from them and acts in GitHub, Linear and Notion

What a Slack AI user would miss
It works in Slack only, knows only what was said in channels it has joined, and keeps memory in supermemory's hosted service, so team conversations leave your Cloudflare account.
What it adds
It is Apache-2.0, can speak up unprompted with proactivity set per workspace and channel, runs code in a sandbox, and asks a teammate to approve tool use it needs from them with a card in Slack.
  • Partly Channel and thread summaries and daily recaps. No summary command is described; a scheduled digest posts a roundup of what shipped and what is open from channel memory and connected tools.
  • Partly Search and answers across conversations, files and connected apps. Answers from what was said in channels it has joined and from live reads in connected tools over MCP; no import of older messages or file indexing is described.
  • Yes Personal AI assistant inside Slack. Ask in a channel, a thread or a DM; it opens issues, reads pull requests and chimes in when it has something to add.
  • Partly Daily briefing built from unread messages and priorities. Scheduled digests go to a channel or your DMs; they are not built from a person's unread messages.
  • Yes Automations and workflows in a few clicks. Plain-language automations that run daily or weekly, plus skills and a workspace prompt.
  • Partly Meeting notes and transcription. Reads Granola or Notion meeting notes through connectors; no transcription.
  • No Real-time translation. No translation feature described.
