Self-hosted alternatives to supermemory

Supermemory is a hosted memory and retrieval service for AI agents, reachable through an API, MCP and plugins. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features supermemory describes on its own site.

What a supermemory user would miss
It has no SDKs, document extractors, knowledge graph or automatic profiles, and one brain has one shared team.
What it adds
Memories, vectors and the models all run in your Cloudflare account on D1, Vectorize and Workers AI, with a private Personal layer and a Shared team layer.
  • Partly Memory that tracks how facts change over time. Memories keep the dates they were true and recall can answer as of a past date, with history per memory; no knowledge graph.
  • Partly Retrieval grounded in documents and knowledge bases. Semantic recall with Vectorize and Workers AI plus full-text search over saved memories; no document ingestion.
  • Partly Automatic user profiles. Prompt Capsules assemble core and project context from tagged canonical memories; no automatic profile generation found.
  • Partly Connectors for Notion, Google Drive and GitHub. Capture integrations for Obsidian, Notion, calendars and email; no Google Drive or GitHub connector found.
  • No Extractors for PDFs, images, video and code. No PDF, image, video or code extractors.
  • Partly REST API, MCP, browser plugins and SDKs. REST, an MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex, a CLI and a browser extension; no SDK found.
  • Partly Namespaces that separate memory by user, project, team or organization. Personal and Shared layers plus projects and tags; one shared team per brain.
  • Yes Managed cloud or self-hosted deployment. Runs in your own Cloudflare account as one Worker, with a desktop app that sets it up.
