Self-hosted alternatives to Trello

Trello is a hosted work management tool from Atlassian that tracks tasks as cards in lists on shared boards. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Trello describes on its own site.

  • Projektor issue list for the PROJ project with issue refs, priorities, assignees and statuses

Issue tracker and wiki for teams working with AI coding agents, with the same operations exposed over MCP

Who it suits
Software teams that use a Trello board as a kanban tracker for development work, especially teams whose AI coding agents file and move tickets over MCP.
What a Trello user would miss
Due dates and reminders, calendar and timeline views, rule-based automation and email capture, and sign-in works only through Cloudflare Access.
What it adds
It gives AI coding agents an MCP endpoint with issue leases and file claims, and adds a nested Markdown wiki with revision history, sprint planning and flow metrics.
  • Yes Boards with lists and cards moved by drag and drop. A board view with one column per status and draggable issue cards, beside list and backlog views.
  • Partly Cards with checklists and file attachments. Issues carry a Markdown body, labels, sub-issues and file, link or wiki attachments stored in R2; no checklist feature found.
  • Partly Due dates and start dates with reminders. No built-in due date or reminder; custom fields can hold a date, and sprints give a time box.
  • Partly Members assigned to cards, with board roles and permissions. One assignee per issue, and groups get viewer, member or admin grants per project.
  • Partly Comments with @mentions and an activity feed. Comments from people and agents and a project activity log; no @mentions or notifications found.
  • Partly Calendar, timeline and table views of a board. List, board, backlog and sprint views, saved views and flow metrics; no calendar or timeline view found.
  • Partly Automation rules and Power-Ups. A plugin SDK with a GitHub plugin that links pull requests to issues; no rule-based automation or plugin catalog found.
  • Partly Inbox that captures items from email and Slack. A feedback widget turns user reports into issues; no email or Slack capture found.
