Self-hosted alternatives to Beamer

Beamer is a customer communication tool for announcing product updates, with a changelog, in-app and push notifications, a roadmap, feature voting and NPS surveys. Two listed apps do its main job and run in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Beamer describes on its own site.

Feedback board, public roadmap and changelog for your product, in one Worker with D1, KV and R2

Who it suits
Founders and small SaaS teams who use Beamer mainly for the changelog, a public roadmap and an ideas board, and do not need push notifications, surveys or segmentation.
What a Beamer user would miss
Push notifications, popups, top bars and snippets, segmentation, NPS and in-app surveys and product tours, because the widget shows feedback, roadmap and changelog in a panel and does not send targeted messages.
What it adds
It adds a help center with searchable articles, merging of duplicate requests, an MCP server for AI agents and import from a Canny CSV export, and it runs in your own Cloudflare account.
  • Yes Changelog for updates and fixes. Changelog editor with linked shipped posts, an RSS feed, and email subscriptions with unsubscribe links.
  • Partly In-app notifications: popups, top bars and snippets. A script-tag widget opens a panel with feedback, roadmap and changelog tabs and a badge for unseen releases; no popups, top bars or snippets.
  • No Push notifications. No push notification code found.
  • No Segmentation and targeted messages. No user segmentation or targeted messages found.
  • Partly Public or private roadmap. Public roadmap whose columns follow your statuses, with a switch to hide it; the whole board can sit behind Cloudflare Access; no per-user private roadmap.
  • Yes Ideas board with voting. Board with votes, comments, reactions, status timeline, tags, merging of duplicates and an optional approval queue.
  • No NPS and in-app surveys. No NPS or survey code found.
  • Partly Integrations, API and webhooks. Slack, Discord and signed webhook alerts, an HTTP API with workspace keys and an MCP server; no app marketplace found.

Self-hosted Canny alternative with voting boards, a public roadmap, changelogs and an in-app support widget

Who it suits
Software teams who use Beamer mainly for the roadmap and ideas voting with a changelog beside them, and who can run an external PostgreSQL database.
What a Beamer user would miss
Popups and top bars, push notifications, segmentation, surveys, a changelog feed or email and webhook or Slack alerts, and FeedLog needs an external PostgreSQL 17 or newer database with pgvector.
What it adds
It adds duplicate-idea detection with vector embeddings, AI-drafted changelog entries, a help center, and a widget with a support inbox and an assistant that answers from help center articles, and the AI features need an OpenAI-compatible API key.
  • Partly Changelog for updates and fixes. Changelog editor with AI-drafted style presets and a public changelog page; no RSS feed or changelog email found.
  • No In-app notifications: popups, top bars and snippets. The embeddable widget is a feedback and support launcher, with no announcements, popups or top bars.
  • No Push notifications. No push notification code found.
  • No Segmentation and targeted messages. No user segmentation or targeted messages found.
  • Partly Public or private roadmap. Drag-and-drop public roadmap with planned, in-progress and completed columns; the README mentions private boards but no visibility setting was found in the board schema.
  • Yes Ideas board with voting. Boards with votes, Markdown comments, status workflows and similar-idea detection.
  • No NPS and in-app surveys. No NPS or survey code found.
  • No Integrations, API and webhooks. No webhooks, Slack alerts or public API keys found; widget sign-in uses signed single sign-on tokens.
