Self-hosted alternatives to Firebase Studio

Firebase Studio is Google's browser-based AI workspace for building apps, which Google says it is discontinuing. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Firebase Studio describes on its own site.

Self-hostable AI app builder from Cloudflare: describe an app and an agent plans, builds, previews and repairs it

What a Firebase Studio user would miss
The full cloud IDE, repository import, emulators, collaboration and extensions.
What it adds
MIT licensed and the code behind Cloudflare's hosted builder at build.cloudflare.dev, run in your own account, with model calls routed through AI Gateway and isolated SQLite storage per generated app.
  • Partly App Prototyping agent that builds apps from prompts, mockups and drawings. The agent builds apps from a text description; mockup or drawing input is not described.
  • No Import of repositories and templates for most tech stacks. No repository import described.
  • Partly Gemini assistance for coding, debugging, testing and refactoring. The agent writes and edits code and repairs runtime errors, but there is no assistant inside an editable IDE; the code view is read-only in the chat.
  • No Real-time collaboration on shared projects. No shared editing described.
  • Partly Web previews and Android emulators. Live Dynamic Worker previews; no emulators.
  • Partly Publish to Firebase App Hosting. Previews run as Dynamic Workers; deploying generated apps to your own Cloudflare account is behind ENABLE_USER_ACCOUNT_DEPLOY.
  • No Extensions from the VSX registry. No extension support described.
