Self-hosted alternatives to Lucidchart

Lucidchart is a hosted diagramming app for flowcharts, process maps, org charts and technical diagrams, with real-time collaboration and integrations. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Lucidchart describes on its own site.

  • DrawCMS editor with the architecture request flow sample: User, Load Balancer, API and Database, animation on and the presentation steps panel open

Editor for animated architecture, sequence and BPMN diagrams that you or an AI agent build, narrate step by step and export as GIF

Who it suits
Engineers who draw architecture and sequence diagrams alone and want them animated, without a per-seat subscription.
What a Lucidchart user would miss
There is no real-time collaboration, no data linking and no integrations, and diagrams live in one browser unless saved as files.
What it adds
AGPL-3.0 and runs in your own Cloudflare account. Diagrams animate: motion presets on nodes and connectors and narrated presentation steps, exported as an animated GIF.
  • Yes Flowcharts, process maps and org charts. Flowchart, org chart and BPMN-style process elements are part of the 17 diagram types.
  • Partly UML, ERD and C4 technical diagrams. Class, sequence, state, activity, ER, deployment and component diagrams; no dedicated C4 notation.
  • Yes Cloud architecture templates and shape libraries. AWS, GCP, Azure and infrastructure icons, plus an architecture request flow template.
  • No Real-time collaboration. Single user in the browser; an AI agent can co-edit the same canvas.
  • No Diagrams built from linked spreadsheet data. No data linking.
  • Partly AI diagram generation from text prompts. An AI agent builds diagrams through WebMCP or the agent skill; there is no built-in prompt box.
  • No Integrations with Jira, Confluence, Slack and Teams. No integrations; diagrams export as PNG or GIF.
