Self-hosted alternatives to Zendesk

Zendesk is a hosted customer service platform with ticketing across email, chat, voice and social channels, a knowledge base, reporting and AI agents. One listed app does its main job and runs in your own Cloudflare account.

Each answer comes from the app’s README and source code, compared with the features Zendesk describes on its own site.

Email helpdesk for support teams of one to fifteen people who have outgrown group email

What a Zendesk user would miss
Chat, voice and social channels, round-robin and time-based automations, a custom report builder, an app marketplace and an AI agent that answers customers. ResolveHQ is built for teams of one to fifteen and is source-available, not open source.
What it adds
Tickets and attachments are stored in your own Cloudflare D1 database and R2 bucket. The ResolveHQ homepage states there is no per-seat price, and Cloudflare plan limits and charges apply to the account. It also has a read-only MCP server and signed webhooks.
  • Yes Ticketing with assignment, status and priority. Tickets with assignment, status, priority, tags and full-text search.
  • Partly Support on email, chat, voice and social channels. Email only, received through Email Routing; agents can also create tickets by hand or API.
  • Yes Knowledge base and help center. Public help center built from published articles in categories, drafts stay private.
  • Partly Triggers, automations and routing rules. Rules on subject, priority, status, customer email or inbox set priority, status, one named assignee or a tag; no time-based or round-robin rules.
  • Yes Macros and saved replies. Saved replies and internal notes on tickets.
  • Yes SLA policies for response and resolution times. First-reply and resolution targets per priority, working hours, holidays, Overdue and Due-soon queues.
  • Partly Reporting and analytics. Reports on volume and response times with CSV export and a dashboard; no custom report builder found.
  • Partly AI agents and agent assistance. Opt-in summaries, reply drafts, classification and translation; no AI agent that answers customers.
