Aria Builder

Visual editor and CMS for Astro sites, with a design system, SEO tools and an AI agent

Aria Builder Composer editing a blog post, with the layer tree on the left and image size controls on the right

Aria Builder lets a team build Astro pages on a visual canvas and manage blog posts and other content in collections from the same Studio. It runs on Cloudflare Workers or on Node with SQLite. The project is in alpha.

Composer, the visual editor, works on the actual Astro page. You edit it on a canvas with an Inspector, responsive viewports and saved components. Collections hold structured content with schemas, templates, relations, drafts and revisions. The design system takes your tokens, semantic classes, fonts and motion settings and publishes only the CSS each page needs. SEO tooling covers sitemaps, feeds, redirects, JSON-LD and site-health checks. Sign-in uses sessions and TOTP, with roles, audit logging and login rate limiting. Email goes out through Cloudflare Email, SMTP or a local preview sink. A built-in AI agent (bring your own key) and an MCP server act with the same role permissions as a Studio user. The homepage says WordPress and Markdown imports are supported. A Studio export writes a standalone Astro project with the pages, components, design system and CMS data. On Cloudflare, one Worker serves the Astro build from static assets. Content lives in D1, cache and sessions in two KV namespaces, and media in R2 with the Images binding. Queues carry email, thumbnail and integration jobs, with dead-letter queues for email and integrations. Two Durable Objects back the Studio agent and live editing. The Worker also binds Workers AI and runs a cron trigger every five minutes. The Deploy to Cloudflare button provisions all of it. Its deploy command applies D1 migrations, creates missing queues and generates internal API secrets.

Built for: Founders, designers and small teams who want to build and edit Astro sites visually, self-hosted in their own Cloudflare account

What you can use it for

  • Build and edit an Astro marketing site on a visual canvas
  • Run a blog or other structured content with drafts and revisions
  • Manage sitemaps, redirects and JSON-LD next to the content
  • Move a WordPress or Markdown site into an Astro project
  • Export the finished site as a plain Astro project

The repository's wrangler.jsonc ships placeholder resource IDs that the Deploy button normally rewrites. Replace the D1 database_id and the aria_cache and session KV ids with the IDs the create commands print, then run npm run deploy, which applies migrations, creates the queues and deploys the Worker. Open /admin/setup afterwards to create the first administrator.

    git clone https://github.com/ariabuilder/aria.git
    cd aria
    npm install
    npx wrangler login
    npx wrangler d1 create aria-db
npx wrangler kv namespace create aria-cache
npx wrangler kv namespace create aria-session
npx wrangler r2 bucket create aria-media
    npm run deploy

Click deploy and give the two KV namespaces distinct titles. Then create the first administrator at /admin/setup.

Good to know

The homepage FAQ says Aria Builder is not production-ready yet. The repository was created in July 2026, has one contributor and has had no commits since August 3, 2026. Webhook automation, third-party OAuth, Figma integration and plugins are not available yet. Cloudflare traffic metrics in Studio need a Cloudflare-managed custom domain and a zone analytics token. TRADEMARKS.md governs use of the name and logo.

Cost on Cloudflare

Depends on usage

The repository includes a check that keeps the Worker bundle under the 3 MB compressed size limit of Workers Free. Each binding draws on its own Free allowance: 10,000 Queues operations and 10,000 Workers AI Neurons per day, 1,000 KV writes per day and 5,000 unique Images transformations per month. Workers Free also caps CPU time at 10 ms per request, and the project does not say whether Studio editing and AI agent work stay within that limit. On Workers Paid the CPU limit is higher, and usage beyond a free allowance is billed by each service.

The estimate is based on Cloudflare’s documented limits and the app’s configuration. What you pay depends on your usage and plan.
