OpenSEO

OpenSEO is an open source alternative to Semrush and Ahrefs that also covers backlinks, competitor insights and AI visibility. Each self-hosted install uses its own DataForSEO API key and pays DataForSEO only for the data it pulls.

Keyword research shows search volume, CPC and SERP analysis. The same data is available to agents: OpenSEO exposes an MCP server, and the project publishes Agent Skills that walk an agent such as Claude Code, OpenClaw or Hermes through SEO tasks. An optional in-app agent called SAM runs on an OpenRouter key. Google Search Console and Google Analytics data can be connected through a Google OAuth client. The Cloudflare deployment runs two Workers. The app Worker serves the interface from static assets, keeps data in D1, KV and R2, holds agent chat sessions in Durable Objects, and runs rank checks from a five-minute cron trigger and a Workflow. Site audits run in a second Worker with their own Workflow, a Durable Object scratchpad and a Browser Run binding for JavaScript rendering. Cloudflare Access is the login gate, and everyone allowed through it shares one workspace. Besides the Cloudflare path, the README describes a Docker setup for personal use on one machine.

Setup needs Node 22.6 or newer and pnpm on your machine. The deploy command provisions every resource and the Access application, and creates a Zero Trust team if the account has none.

Good to know

MCP clients need Managed OAuth turned on in the Access application, which is off by default. R2 must be activated on the account, which needs a payment method on file even within the free tier. Anonymized usage telemetry is on by default; set OPENSEO_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 to turn it off.
